Manchester City extend Rico Lewis’ contract until 2030 amid interest from other clubs

Manchester City has officially renewed the contract of 20-year-old versatile talent Rico Lewis, keeping the English midfielder and full-back at the club until 2030.

Lewis: A Player for Multiple Roles

Rico Lewis, who can operate as a midfielder or full-back, expressed his happiness after the announcement:

“There’s nothing else on my mind but happiness. It’s a proud moment for me and my family,” Lewis told the club’s official website.

The young star also spoke about his preferred position:

“I like playing in midfield, I like being involved more often, but I’m happy to play in any position as long as I can help and contribute to the team.”

Interest From Other Clubs

During the last transfer window, Lewis attracted attention from several clubs. Nottingham Forest reportedly made a €35 million offer, but no deal materialized. Bayern Munich also explored his situation, yet Lewis rejected their advances, expressing his desire to remain at Manchester City.

Career at Manchester City

Lewis debuted with Manchester City in 2022 and has since appeared in 97 matches, scoring five goals and providing 10 assists. His versatility has allowed manager Pep Guardiola to deploy him as a right-back, left-back, defensive midfielder, or central midfielder.
