Ekitike analyzes arrival at Liverpool and fight for position with Alexander Isak: “Tough competition”

Liverpool made headlines in the transfer market by securing three major reinforcements: Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, and Alexander Isak. While the arrivals add firepower to Jürgen Klopp’s squad, they also create direct competition in the Reds’ attack.
Ekitike on Competing with Isak
Speaking after his unveiling, Hugo Ekitike admitted he welcomes the challenge of competing with Alexander Isak, who joined Liverpool after a record-breaking season with Newcastle United.
“When you play for the best teams, you inevitably expect to compete with the best players, and Isak is among them,” Ekitike told Fabrizio Romano on X.
“Seeing him arrive is a pleasure. It’s going to be a tough competition, but I’ll work hard and give my best so this isn’t a problem for the manager.”
Isak’s Stellar Record at Newcastle
Alexander Isak, 25, arrives at Anfield on the back of his best-ever season, scoring 27 goals and six assists in 42 matches for Newcastle.
Over three seasons with the Magpies, he registered 62 goals and 11 assists in 109 appearances, drawing interest from giants such as Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and clubs in Saudi Arabia before Liverpool secured his signature.
Ekitike’s Frankfurt Rise
Meanwhile, Ekitike earned his Liverpool move after a successful spell with Eintracht Frankfurt. In two seasons in Germany, he tallied 26 goals and 14 assists across 64 games.
The Frenchman has already made a fast start at Anfield, scoring three goals and one assist in his first four appearances.
Liverpool’s Reinforced Attack
Alongside Wirtz, who arrived from Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool’s revamped frontline promises more depth, creativity, and competition. For Klopp, the battle between Isak and Ekitike could be key in pushing standards higher as the Reds aim for silverware this season.
