João Neves’ hat-trick takes PSG to the top of Ligue 1 after a 6-3 win over Toulouse

The Portuguese midfielder scores his first career hat-trick as the Parisians maintain a perfect record in the French league.

Paris Saint-Germain took sole control of the Ligue 1 table this Saturday (30), defeating Toulouse 6-3 away from home in a goal-packed encounter. The star of the night was João Neves, who scored the first hat-trick of his professional career and guided the Parisians to their third straight win in the competition.

Neves Shines in Historic Night

The 19-year-old Portuguese midfielder opened the scoring with an acrobatic strike in the 7th minute, doubled his tally seven minutes later, and sealed his hat-trick in the 78th minute with a powerful effort from outside the box. Remarkably, he scored as many goals in one match as he had across the entire previous Ligue 1 campaign.

Alongside Neves, Bradley Barcola found the net in the 9th minute, while Ousmane Dembélé converted two penalties (31’ and 51’). PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier was also decisive, saving two first-half penalties from Frank Magri and Cristian Cáseres, the second ordered to be retaken.

Toulouse’s Response

Despite being overwhelmed, Toulouse showed resilience, with goals from Charlie Cresswell (37’), Yann Gboho (89’), and substitute Alexis Vossah (90+1’) softening the scoreline. However, the home side could not prevent PSG from recording their largest victory of the season so far.

PSG at the Summit

With the win, PSG moved to nine points out of nine, standing provisionally alone at the top of the Ligue 1 standings. Toulouse, who had been unbeaten until now, sit in sixth with six points.

The Parisians also had other Portuguese involvement: Nuno Mendes and Vitinha featured in the first half, while Gonçalo Ramos replaced the injured Dembélé in the 70th minute.

Ligue 1 Roundup

Elsewhere, Lille crushed Lorient 7-1 in the most lopsided result of the round, thanks to braces from Mathias Fernandez-Pardo and Hamza Igamane, alongside goals from Romain Perraud, Hakon Haraldsson, and Osame Sahraoui. Portuguese winger Félix Correia played until the 82nd minute, assisting twice.

Nantes, coached by Luís Castro, also celebrated their first win of the season, beating Auxerre 1-0 at home with an early goal from Mostafa Mohamed. The Canaries now move up the table after back-to-back narrow defeats.
