Deco meets agents of Caio Henrique and Vanderson as Barcelona evaluate late transfer moves

With the summer transfer window nearing its close, Barcelona has sparked speculation after sporting director Deco held an unannounced meeting with Giuliano Bertolucci, the agent of AS Monaco full-backs Caio Henrique and Vanderson.

Barcelona Exploring Options Amid Market Uncertainty

According to Spanish reports, the Brazilian duo has long been admired by Barça, but any move hinges on unexpected last-minute sales. Deco’s meeting suggests the Catalan club is at least exploring scenarios before the deadline.

Vanderson’s Price Tag a Major Obstacle

Right-back Vanderson was a top target for months, yet Monaco’s €25M+ (R$159.6M) valuation stalled negotiations. Barça opted instead to trust its internal options, with Jules Koundé and Eric García filling the position. García, a La Masia product, even started the season as the first-choice right-back under Hansi Flick, earning the coach’s full confidence.

Caio Henrique Seen as More Affordable and Versatile

On the left, Caio Henrique’s market value is more accessible, and his ability to play centrally adds tactical flexibility. The 26-year-old, who previously played in La Liga, was evaluated alongside Grimaldo earlier this summer when Barça considered adding competition for Alejandro Balde.

However, the current plan is to trust the academy pipeline, giving prospects Jofre Torrents and Gerard Martín opportunities with the first team. Both can feature at left-back, with Martín also able to cover central defense.

Premier League Clubs Watching Brazilian Duo

Bertolucci’s visit also coincides with English clubs expressing interest in Caio Henrique and Vanderson, increasing the possibility of a bidding war late in the window.

Barcelona Balancing Sales and Player Registrations

For now, Barça’s priority remains registering players who haven’t been officially listed yet, such as Wojciech Szczęsny, Gerard Martín, Marc Bernal, and Bardhji. A surprise outgoing deal could alter the club’s plans.

Among potential departures, Marc Casadó has received inquiries, and the club may consider his sale if the midfielder decides to leave.
