Al-Hilal decides to sell Marcos Leonardo, and Flamengo sees market opportunity

Al-Hilal has put striker Marcos Leonardo up for sale, opening the door for Flamengo to evaluate a possible move. According to ESPN, the Brazilian will not be registered in the Saudi League this season due to the eight-foreigner limit.

Club seeks quick deal

The Saudi club understands that keeping the 21-year-old out of domestic competition could lead to devaluation. Therefore, Al-Hilal’s priority is to secure a transfer as soon as possible, ideally to European football, where the former Santos forward still has strong market appeal.

Flamengo interested, but no talks yet

Sources indicate that Flamengo is among the clubs internally considering Marcos Leonardo’s name, although no concrete proposal or direct contact has been made so far. The Rio de Janeiro side has recently been linked with big names such as Paulo Dybala and could find in the Brazilian striker a more realistic investment.

Market value and salary

The forward is currently valued at €18 million (R$114m) by Transfermarkt. His annual salary is estimated at €5.1m (R$33m) around R$2.7m per month. That figure would place him among Flamengo’s highest earners, alongside Samuel Lino, Jorginho, and Saúl Ñíguez.

Impressive numbers abroad

Marcos Leonardo has shown efficiency in Saudi Arabia, with 29 goals and four assists in 43 matches for Al-Hilal. Before his Middle Eastern stint, he played for Benfica, scoring eight times in 24 appearances. His track record suggests he still has significant potential in both South American and European markets.
