Real Madrid and Liverpool could close a player swap involving Camavinga and Konaté

A surprising negotiation could shake the European transfer market. Real Madrid and Liverpool are reportedly discussing a possible player swap that would involve Eduardo Camavinga and Ibrahima Konaté, plus a cash adjustment.
Camavinga pleases Arne Slot
According to Defensa Central, Liverpool coach Arne Slot is very keen on Camavinga’s playing style and has requested the French midfielder as a reinforcement for his squad.
The Reds would be willing to include Konaté, whose contract is running down in England, plus a sum of €10–15 million to convince Real Madrid.
Real Madrid evaluates midfield options
The deal, however, may not be simple. With Luka Modric’s departure to Milan, Real Madrid has been left with fewer midfield options, which could make president Florentino Pérez hesitant about letting Camavinga go.
Still, Madrid’s interest in Konaté is real. The French defender is seen as one of the club’s priority targets for the defensive system.
Uncertain future for Camavinga
At only 22 years old, Camavinga was considered key under Carlo Ancelotti, but under Xabi Alonso he is unlikely to be a starter. A move to Liverpool could give him more playing time and continuity.
Last season, Camavinga played 35 matches, scoring two goals and providing two assists for Real Madrid.
Other possible departures from Madrid
Midfielder Dani Ceballos also faces an uncertain future. Out of Alonso’s plans, he could be another exit from the Santiago Bernabéu, with interest coming from Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.
Negotiations expected in summer window
The expectation is that talks over the Camavinga-Konaté swap will only intensify in the summer transfer window, as Liverpool do not plan to push the deal earlier.
If confirmed, the move could reshape both clubs’ squads, with two young French players switching roles at two of Europe’s biggest teams.
