Manchester United cuts Antony’s transfer fee from Real Betis, but deal still stalled

Brazilian winger insists on Betis move despite interest from top European clubs
Manchester United have eased their transfer stance on Antony, agreeing to significantly reduce their asking price to facilitate a move to Real Betis. The Brazilian winger, who is not in manager Rúben Amorim’s plans for the upcoming season, remains determined to return to the Spanish side where he shone on loan.
From £82M to £30M — Still Too Much for Betis
Initially, United demanded £82 million (R$600 million) for the 24-year-old, aiming to recover part of the hefty fee they paid Ajax in 2022. However, Antony’s market value has dropped, and with the player pushing for a Betis reunion, the club has now lowered the asking price to £30 million (R$219.6 million), according to Mix Vale.
Despite the reduction, Betis still see the fee as a financial hurdle. La Liga’s strict Financial Fair Play rules limit spending to club revenue, forcing Betis to consider player sales before making an offer.
Antony Rejects Other Clubs
While Atlético Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Bayer Leverkusen have shown interest, Antony has made it clear he only wants to play at Benito Villamarín Stadium. His stance has created tension at Old Trafford, with reports suggesting United may sideline him if he refuses alternative moves this summer.
World Cup Motivation
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaching, Antony needs regular minutes to stay in contention for Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad. He was included in the most recent call-up but risks losing his place if his future remains unsettled.
