PSG vs Tottenham: Richarlison only thinks about Spurs winning the UEFA Super Cup

Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison says he is confident Spurs can overcome Paris Saint-Germain in Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup final at the Friuli Stadium, despite acknowledging the strength of the reigning Champions League winners.

Speaking to GE, the Brazilian striker stressed the importance of starting the season with silverware:

“It’s going to be a tough game. PSG are the current European champions and are coming off a good Club World Cup, but we have the ability to put in a good performance to win another trophy. It’s important to start with a win, with a trophy.”

Key Role for New Signings

Richarlison underlined that a victory would boost team confidence, particularly for new arrivals Mohammed Kudus and João Palhinha. He also praised new head coach Thomas Frank for instilling belief within the squad and vowed to repay that trust on the pitch.

Likely to Start in Udine

Although last season was not his most prolific with nine goals and two assists in 24 appearances Richarlison played a decisive role in Spurs’ Europa League triumph over Manchester United, coming off the bench in the final to help see out the win. His performance drew a standing ovation, and Frank is expected to deploy him from the start against PSG.

Tottenham’s approach is likely to emphasize defensive discipline, aiming to limit PSG’s possession dominance, while relying on Richarlison to capitalize on scoring opportunities in transition.

First Official Meeting Between the Clubs

The UEFA Super Cup will be the first competitive fixture between PSG and Tottenham. Their only previous encounter came in a 2017 Guinness Cup friendly, which Spurs won 4-2. Kickoff is set for Wednesday, August 13, at 4 p.m. (Brasília time) in Udine, Italy.
