UEFA Super Cup: Dembélé cleared to play for PSG against Tottenham

Paris Saint-Germain will have star forward Ousmane Dembélé in the starting lineup for tonight’s UEFA Super Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur, coach Luis Enrique has confirmed. The French champions face the Europa League winners at the Friuli Stadium just weeks after lifting the Champions League trophy.

Dembélé, widely regarded as the best player in the world last season, is set to spearhead PSG’s attack alongside wingers Desire Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The 27-year-old enters the match in outstanding form, having scored 35 goals and delivered 14 assists in 53 appearances last season.

Champions League Star Power

His impact was even more pronounced in the Champions League, where he produced eight goals and six assists in 15 matches helping PSG secure their first European crown since the Qatari takeover. Now in his third season at the Parc des Princes, Dembélé has transformed from a solid contributor in his debut campaign to a decisive match-winner.

Full-Strength PSG, Except in Goal

PSG will field their strongest outfield lineup, with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma the only absentee. Luis Enrique revealed the Italian has been omitted for tactical reasons amid reports of an imminent move to Manchester City. Newly signed Lucas Chevalier is expected to start in goal.

A Familiar Foe for Dembélé

Tonight’s opponent brings back positive memories for Dembélé: in 2018, during his time at Barcelona, he scored a spectacular goal against Spurs in the Champions League. PSG will hope for more of the same in Udine as they aim to add the Super Cup to their growing trophy collection.

Kickoff is scheduled for Wednesday, August 13, at 4 p.m. (Brasília time).
