Manchester United is not stopping at Sesko and could sign striker Ricardo Mathias from Internacional
Fresh from securing the high-profile signing of Benjamin Sesko, Manchester United are already targeting their next attacking reinforcement: 19-year-old striker Ricardo Mathias from Brazilian side Internacional, according to reports from GE.
Scouting Mission in Brazil
United scouts were in attendance during Internacional’s 1-1 draw with Fluminense in the Copa do Brasil, closely monitoring Mathias. The teenager played 32 minutes but couldn’t prevent his side’s elimination after a first-leg defeat.
Rising Talent in South America
Promoted to Internacional’s first team last season, Mathias has made 11 appearances in 2025, scoring twice once in the Copa Libertadores against Nacional and once in the Brasileirão against Mirassol. Despite limited minutes, the striker is considered one of the brightest prospects in Brazilian football.
Competition for His Signature
Manchester United face competition from another Premier League club, which has formally expressed interest in the player, as well as from within Europe. Ruben Amorim’s squad has also been linked.
Busy Transfer Window at Old Trafford
United’s recruitment drive has already brought in Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Sesko. The club is also looking to resolve the future of Brazilian winger Antony, who has attracted interest from Benfica and remains keen on returning to Real Betis.
