Al-Nassr prepares €70 million bid for Lucas Paquetá, beating Flamengo and Manchester City

Saudi powerhouse Al-Nassr are preparing a blockbuster offer to sign Lucas Paquetá from West Ham United, potentially beating both Flamengo and Manchester City in the race for the Brazilian midfielder. The move comes just days after Paquetá was officially cleared of betting-related allegations, freeing him to resume his career without restrictions.
According to the Transfer Feed portal, Al-Nassr are willing to pay up to €70 million for the 26-year-old playmaker a figure that includes both fixed fees and performance-related bonuses. The valuation matches West Ham’s expectations, with the English club signaling openness to a sale if the right offer arrives.
Jorge Jesus Backs Paquetá as Otávio’s Replacement
Al-Nassr head coach Jorge Jesus is believed to be one of the key figures pushing for Paquetá’s arrival, viewing him as the ideal replacement for Otávio, who is set to depart in the current window. Paquetá would also join an increasingly Brazilian-heavy squad, which already includes Bento, Wesley, and Ângelo along with global icon Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese manager sees Paquetá as a natural fit for the squad’s attacking setup, particularly in central midfield, where his creative passing, ball progression, and tactical intelligence can immediately make an impact.
Flamengo and Manchester City Also in the Picture
While Al-Nassr appear ready to meet West Ham’s valuation, they are not alone in the chase. Flamengo, Paquetá’s former club, have made contact regarding a return to Brazil, but a move is considered unlikely due to financial constraints and the player’s desire to remain in Europe.
Manchester City have also renewed interest. In 2023, the Premier League champions had reportedly agreed to a £100 million deal before the Football Association launched its now-dismissed investigation.
City manager Pep Guardiola has long admired Paquetá’s versatility and work rate, but no formal bid has been submitted in the current window.
Paquetá Prioritizes National Team Ambitions
Despite the lucrative offer from Al-Nassr, Paquetá’s primary goal remains a return to Brazil’s national team setup ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He is said to be seeking assurances from national team coach Carlo Ancelotti that a move to the Saudi Pro League would not affect his chances of future call-ups.
Paquetá has already resumed training with West Ham and recently scored and assisted in a preseason match against Everton in the United States, suggesting he is in top form despite months of off-field uncertainty.
