Juventus among clubs monitoring defender’s situation

Ronald Araújo may part ways with Barcelona this summer if he does not reclaim a starting spot under new manager Hansi Flick, according to La Vanguardia. The Uruguayan defender, 26, reportedly has no intention of accepting a backup role and could request a transfer if he feels undervalued.

Araujo unwilling to accept reserve status

Araújo, once considered a cornerstone of Barcelona’s backline, has struggled with form and injuries in recent months. This has seen him fall behind Pau Cubarsí and Iñigo Martínez in the pecking order. While he is determined to prove himself during pre-season, he expects to be a regular starter.

Sources close to the player say he wants to be “key” to Flick’s project. Should that not happen, he is open to leaving Camp Nou a decision that could reshape Barça’s defensive plans.

Flick sees potential in physical profile

Despite being out of the starting XI, Araújo’s athletic profile remains unmatched in the current Barcelona squad. Standing 6’4″ and known for his strength in duels, the Uruguayan could become a vital option for Flick in more physically demanding matches.

His positioning and physical presence are well suited to the German coach’s high-intensity tactics. If he adapts well during training and pre-season fixtures, he could forge a solid partnership with young talent Pau Cubarsí.

Juventus and other clubs monitoring situation

Several European clubs, including Juventus, have expressed interest in Araújo since last season. The Italian giants reportedly explored a potential offer earlier this year and could return with a formal proposal if the defender becomes available.

Araújo is also attracting interest from other Serie A sides and teams in the Premier League. Barcelona has yet to receive official bids this summer, but the situation is being closely monitored across Europe.
