In a performance that underlined their status as title contenders, Sweden took full control early and never looked back. They broke the deadlock in the 28th minute when Stina Blackstenius found space inside the six-yard box to head home Johanna Rytting Kaneryd’s pinpoint cross.

Kosovare Asllani, making her 201st international appearance, doubled the lead shortly after halftime with another well-placed header also assisted by Rytting Kaneryd, who terrorized Poland’s left side all evening.

Lina Hurtig, recently released by Arsenal, rounded off the scoring in the 77th minute with a powerful header from a corner, capping a dominant showing in the air by the Swedish attack.

The win takes Sweden to six points, equal with Germany, who earlier defeated Denmark 2-1. The two sides will now face off on Saturday to decide who tops Group C. Sweden leads on goal difference and only needs a draw to finish first.

Meanwhile, Poland’s campaign is over. In their debut European Championship, they have failed to score in two matches and will meet fellow-eliminated side Denmark in the final group fixture.

One of the standout themes of the match was Sweden’s total control of the flanks. In the first half alone, they launched 24 crosses, primarily through Rytting Kaneryd, who completely overwhelmed Polish full-back Martyna Wiankowska.

All three goals came via headers, clearly showcasing Sweden’s well-drilled attacking strategy. The Swedes also struck the bar twice in the first half, as Asllani and Madelen Janogy came close before the opener.
