Club World Cup: Real Madrid Lose Dean Huijsen for Semi-Final vs PSG

Suspended after red card vs Dortmund, Huijsen will miss key clash at MetLife Stadium
Real Madrid will be without central defender Dean Huijsen for their Club World Cup semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday (July 9, 4pm Brasília time) after the 19-year-old was sent off in injury time against Borussia Dortmund.
Huijsen received a straight red card for a last-man foul on Guirassy, pulling the forward down to prevent a potential equalizer. The red card triggers an automatic one-match suspension, ruling him out of the showdown against the Champions League holders.

Card Rules and Possible Final Absence
While yellow cards are wiped after the quarter-finals, red card suspensions remain. If the disciplinary committee deems the foul serious enough, Huijsen could face a longer ban, which might also include the Club World Cup final or third-place match.
The young Spaniard has quickly earned a starting role under Xabi Alonso, following a breakout stint at Bournemouth and impressive displays with the Spanish national team. Real Madrid paid R$373.9 million for his services earlier this year, and he has started every match of their Club World Cup campaign.
Xabi Alonso Faces Defensive Dilemma
With Huijsen ruled out, Xabi Alonso must now reshuffle his backline against PSG’s high-powered attack, led by former Real target Kylian Mbappé and tournament standout Ousmane Dembélé.
Possible replacements include Éder Militão, if fit, or a back-three adjustment using Tchouaméni or Nacho in a deeper role.
