The 39-year-old legend is reportedly ready to sign a six-month deal to rescue his boyhood club while preparing a formal bid to buy the institution.

In a move that could redefine the final chapter of his legendary career, Sergio Ramos has reportedly offered his services to Sevilla FC. After ending his stint with Mexico’s Monterrey, the 39-year-old defender is currently a free agent and has expressed a desire to return to Andalusia for a six-month “mission” to keep the club in La Liga.

A Rescue Mission for a Fallen Giant

The situation at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán is critical. Currently sitting in 15th place, Sevilla is spiraling toward the relegation zone following a humiliating 4-1 defeat to RCD Mallorca this week.

According to journalist Gonzalo Tortosa, Ramos believes his leadership and experience are exactly what the squad needs to stabilize its defense for the remainder of the season. For the player, this is a chance to solidify his status as a club savior before hanging up his boots.

From Captain to Owner?

There is a significant commercial layer to this offer. Ramos is not just looking for a jersey; he is reportedly part of a group interested in purchasing Sevilla FC.

  • The Strategy: By helping the club avoid a catastrophic relegation, Ramos would gain immense leverage with the fans and the current board, smoothening the path for his formal acquisition bid.
  • The Relationship: After years of friction with the ultras due to his time at Real Madrid, his successful 2023 return mended most ties. This third stint would be the final bridge to a post-playing career as a club executive.

Ramos by the Numbers at Sevilla

Across his two previous spells (his debut years and his 2023 return), Ramos has been more than just a defender:

  • Appearances: 87
  • Goals: 10 (A high scoring rate for a CB)
  • Experience: Over 3 seasons of leadership in the locker room.
