Manchester United have identified Juventus star Manuel Locatelli as the “priority” signing to fill the void left by Casemiro’s departure.

Following the official announcement of Casemiro’s exit, the Red Devils’ recruitment team has been working tirelessly to secure a high-caliber replacement. While several names have been linked to Old Trafford, reports from The Touchline suggest that Locatelli has emerged as the clear favorite for the football department and manager Michael Carrick.

The Ideal Fit for the Carrick Era

Carrick, himself a legendary midfielder, has reportedly given his “green light” for the move. United’s hierarchy has been scouting the 28-year-old Italian for several months and believes his tactical intelligence and passing range make him the ideal profile to anchor their new-look midfield.

Locatelli is viewed not just as a defensive shield, but as a player capable of dictating the tempo of the game a quality the club has lacked in recent seasons.

Despited Unite’s heavy interest, pryring Locatelli away from Turin will be far from easy. Juventus consider the Euro 2020 winner a cornerstone of their project, and with his contract running until 2028, the Bianconeri are expected to demand a premium fee. As of now, official negotiations are yet to begin, but United are expected to make their move before the summer window opens.

Other Options on the Radar

While Locatelli is “Plan A,” TEAMtalk reports that Manchester United are keeping their options open with several Premier League-proven talents. Should a deal for the Italian stall, the club could pivot to:

  • Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace): The rising English star.
  • Carlos Baleba (Brighton): Known for his physicality and energy.
  • Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest): A versatile domestic option.
