The Spanish Super Cup final between Barcelona and Real Madrid has a last-minute change in its officiating team ahead of Sunday’s clásico.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) confirmed that Alejandro Quintero will serve as the fourth official, replacing Adrián Cordero, who is injured. The change comes just days before the final, which kicks off at 4 pm (Brasília time) at the Alinma Bank King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Refereeing Team for the Clásico

The main officiating crew remains unchanged:

  • Referee: José Luis Muniera
  • Assistant Referees: Iñigo Prieto and Antonio Martínez
  • Video Assistant Referee (VAR): Daniel Trujillo
  • VAR Assistants: Victor García and David Gálvez

Barcelona’s Probable Lineup

Barcelona are expected to make at least one change from their semi-final against Athletic Bilbao. Lamine Yamal, who came off the bench in the semi-final, is tipped to start in a three-man attack alongside Raphinha and Ferran Torres.

Probable Barcelona XI:
Joan García; Koundé, Eric García, Cubarsí, Balde; Pedri, De Jong, Fermín López (Dani Olmo); Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Ferran Torres.

Coach Hansi Flick emphasized the importance of focus and teamwork for the clásico:\

“It’s the classic. I want to see the same commitment we showed against Bilbao. We played as a team, as a unit. I want the players to show their best on the field. That’s what matters most.”

Real Madrid’s Probable Lineup

Real Madrid face some uncertainty with Kylian Mbappé, who recently returned from injury and may start on the bench.

Probable Real Madrid XI:
Courtois; Valverde, Rüdiger, Raúl Asencio (Huijsen), Carreras; Tchouaméni, Bellingham, Camavinga; Vinicius Júnior, Rodrygo, Gonzalo (Mbappé).

Manager Xabi Alonso highlighted the high stakes of the final:

“It’s a final, and you need to know how to compete to win it. We are ready. Anything can happen. We are focused on what we can do and how to play the game.”
