MADRID – Real Madrid could be set for a major midfield shake-up this summer. Reports from E-Notícias suggest that Federico Valverde is seriously considering a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United reportedly leading the race for his signature with a massive €120 million opening bid.

The Uruguayan international, long considered a pillar of the Los Blancos squad, is allegedly “tempted” by the prospect of becoming a central leader at Old Trafford. Despite Real Madrid’s recent success, including a dominant 6-1 victory over Monaco where Valverde provided two assists, the player is reportedly concerned about his long-term role under manager Alvaro Arbeloa.

La ckof Prestige in Midfield?

One of the main driving forces behind Valverde’s potential exit is his positioning. While his versatility is a massive asset highlighted by his recent shifts at right-back—the 27-year-old reportedly prefers a permanent role in his natural midfield position.

Valverde allegedly feels that his “prestige” in the middle of the park has diminished, and with rumors of Jurgen Klopp’s potential arrival at the Bernabéu, the Uruguayan is seeking clarity on whether he remains a “fundamental” part of the project.

A Record-Breaking Move

Should the €120m deal go through, Valverde would become one of the most expensive signings in Manchester United’s history. So far this season, he has been productive, tallying 10 goal involvements across 28 matches, including a crucial winner in the Madrid Derby against Atlético on January 8th.

Valverde isn’t the only Madrid star targeted by English giants. While Manchester United focuses on the Uruguayan, Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly battling for Arda Güler, though President Florentino Pérez remains reluctant to let the Turkish prodigy leave.
