Chelsea Appoint Liam Rosenior as New Manager
Maresca’s departure was swiftly followed by Chelsea’s move to appoint Liam Rosenior as the club’s new head coach. The English manager had been making a strong impression at Strasbourg, another club under the BlueCo ownership group.
Chelsea’s hierarchy reportedly identified Rosenior as a key fit for their long-term project, valuing his youth, modern coaching approach, and experience within European competition. The club is keen to build stability after recent managerial changes.
Rosenior has signed a six-and-a-half-year contract, committing his future to Chelsea until June 2032.
Why Chelsea Chose Liam Rosenior
One of the main factors behind Rosenior’s appointment is his alignment with Chelsea’s long-term vision. The club’s owners were seeking a manager capable of developing players while maintaining competitive results at the highest level.
Rosenior leaves Strasbourg after more than 18 months in charge to take on one of the most demanding roles in English football.
Liam Rosenior’s Record at Strasbourg
Before arriving at Stamford Bridge, Rosenior managed 63 matches with Strasbourg. According to Transfermarkt, his record stands at:
- 32 wins
- 14 draws
- 17 defeats
- 58.2% win rate
In his first full season with the French club, Rosenior guided Strasbourg to a 7th-place finish in Ligue 1, securing qualification for the UEFA Conference League.
Chelsea now turn the page as Rosenior begins his tenure, while Maresca departs having left a tangible mark on the club’s recent history.
