Chelsea have entered the race to sign Jacobo Ramón, joining Real Madrid in pursuit of the highly rated defender currently impressing at Como in Italian football. While both clubs are monitoring the Spaniard closely, Real Madrid hold a significant advantage that could prove decisive.

For now, the Spanish giants are not expected to make major moves during the January transfer window, with their focus firmly on the upcoming Spanish Super Cup clash against Barcelona on January 11. However, sources indicate that Real Madrid are already planning reinforcements for the end of the season.

Real Madrid Planning Summer Reinforcements

Real Madrid have already secured the return of Nico Paz, who will be bought back from Como after spending the season in Serie A. The Argentine midfielder is not expected to be the only player returning to the Santiago Bernabéu.

According to ESPN, the club is also considering activating a move for Jacobo Ramón, who has been delivering consistent performances since joining Como last summer. His development in Italy has not gone unnoticed by Madrid’s scouting department.

Chelsea Enter the Negotiations

Despite Real Madrid’s interest, the situation is not yet settled. English outlet TEAMtalk reports that Chelsea have identified Ramón as a defensive target and are preparing to submit a formal offer in an attempt to beat their Spanish rivals to the signing.

The Premier League side are actively seeking defensive reinforcements and view the 21-year-old as a long-term investment, which could lead to a direct transfer battle between the two European giants.

Real Madrid’s Key Advantage: Buy-Back Clause

Although Chelsea are ready to act, Real Madrid possess a crucial advantage. When the club sold Jacobo Ramón to Como, they included a buy-back clause in the agreement. This clause gives Madrid priority to re-sign the player, allowing them to match or outmaneuver competing bids.

As a result, despite Chelsea’s interest and financial strength, the Bernabéu club remain in a strong position to reclaim the defender if they decide to proceed.

Jacobo Ramón’s Season in Numbers

Jacobo Ramón, 21, is under contract with Como until June 2030. According to Transfermarkt, he is currently valued at €18 million.

Across all competitions this season—including appearances for Como and the Spain Under-21 national team—the defender has featured in 19 matches, scoring two goals, both for the Italian club. His steady rise has made him one of the most closely watched young Spanish defenders in Europe.
