The Bundesliga has postponed two matches in the 16th round after heavy snowfall in Germany made playing conditions unsafe. Scheduled for Saturday, January 10, St. Pauli vs. RB Leipzig and Werder Bremen vs. Hoffenheim will be rescheduled to later dates.

Safety Concerns Prompt Postponements

According to the German Football League, the Millerntor Stadium in Hamburg was closed after authorities assessed the impact of snow and ice around the pitch, making the venue unsafe for players and spectators. Similarly, Weser Stadium in Bremen was deemed unplayable due to snow accumulation, forcing the cancellation of the match against Hoffenheim.

The league will announce new dates for both fixtures in the coming days.

Other Bundesliga Action in Round 16

The 16th round began on Friday, January 9, with a dramatic 3-3 draw between Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund twice took the lead, only to concede in stoppage time, with both teams scoring late goals in a thrilling finish.

Other results included:

  • Heidenheim 2-2 Cologne
  • Union Berlin 2-2 Mainz
  • Freiburg 2-1 Hamburg, taking advantage of an extra player

Remaining Fixtures

Two games will conclude the 16th round on Sunday, January 11:

  • Monchengladbach vs. Augsburg, 2:30 PM UK time at Borussia-Park
  • Bayern Munich vs. Wolfsburg, 4:30 PM at Allianz Arena

Bayern Munich Eyeing Bigger Lead
