Manchester United face a massive financial decision as captain Bruno Fernandes reportedly demands a staggering £400,000-per-week contract to commit his long-term future to Old Trafford.

According to The Mirror, the Portuguese playmaker is seeking a significant pay rise that would make him the highest-paid player in the squad. With his current deal set to expire in June 2027, the 31-year-old is aware that his next contract will likely be the final “mega-deal” of his professional career.

The Saudi Arabia Conflict

The negotiations come amid a tense atmosphere behind the scenes. Bruno recently sparked controversy with claims that the club’s leadership tried to “force” a move to the Saudi Pro League against his will an allegation Manchester United officials have flatly denied, according to TEAMtalk.

Despite the friction, Saudi clubs remain on high alert and are prepared to offer even higher figures to lure the midfielder away from England this summer.

  • The Demand: £400,000 per week.
  • Current Form: 22 games, 5 goals, and 11 assists (16 G/A total).
  • The Dilemma: Sporting legacy vs. record-breaking Saudi offers.

A Pillar of the Carrick Era

Despite the off-field drama, Bruno’s importance to Michael Carrick’s side is undeniable. In his seventh season at the club, he remains the creative heartbeat of the team. With 16 direct goal involvements already this season, losing him would be a massive blow to United’s hopes of returning to the European elite.

The midfielder is reportedly “unhappy” with the constant changes in technical management over the last few years and wants guarantees regarding the club’s sporting project before putting pen to paper.

Decision Time This Summer

Bruno Fernandes has decided to wait until the end of the current campaign to make a final call. If United refuse to meet his £400k-a-week demands, the club may be forced to consider a massive sale in the summer to avoid his market value dropping as he enters the final year of his deal.
