Borussia Dortmund have stepped away from negotiations for Oscar Bobb after Manchester City demanded a package worth around €70 million (approximately R$440 million), a figure considered unfeasible by the German club.
The highly rated Norwegian winger had been close to a move to Germany, but the financial conditions ultimately led Dortmund to suspend talks.
Oscar Bobb’s Move to Dortmund Is Put on Hold
According to Sport Bild, Borussia Dortmund’s board held internal discussions regarding the potential signing of Bobb and decided to freeze negotiations. The proposed deal involved a loan with an option to buy, but the total cost including transfer fees, wages, and agent commissions exceeded the club’s budget for the January transfer window.
Dortmund are keen to strengthen their squad but remain committed to a financially disciplined approach, avoiding major investments midway through the season.
Manchester City Open to Bobb’s Exit After New Signing
Manchester City are not opposed to letting Oscar Bobb leave this January. The situation changed significantly following the arrival of Antoine Semenyo, who joined the Premier League champions in a deal worth close to R$475 million.
With Pep Guardiola now having additional attacking options, Bobb’s chances of regular playing time at the Etihad Stadium have diminished even further.
Fierce Competition in City’s Attack Limits Opportunities
Beyond Semenyo’s arrival, Bobb faces competition from established names such as Jérémy Doku and Savinho, making consistent minutes difficult for the 20-year-old winger.
While Guardiola values Bobb’s technical ability and long-term potential, City believe that a move either on loan or permanently could benefit both the player’s development and the club’s squad balance.
Contract Status, Market Value and Season Numbers
Oscar Bobb is under contract with Manchester City until June 30, 2029. According to SofaScore, his current market value stands at around €24 million (approximately R$151 million).
So far this season, the Norwegian has made 15 appearances, starting nine of those matches. He has yet to score a goal but has provided one assist across 744 minutes of action.
