Real Madrid negotiates with Besiktas over Raúl Asencio transfer; Xabi Alonso approves sale

Real Madrid is negotiating with Besiktas to finalize the sale of defender Raúl Asencio, according to Spanish reports. Coach Xabi Alonso has already given the green light for the player’s departure after a series of underwhelming performances, particularly at the Club World Cup.
Real Madrid Open to Sales After Transfer Window
Despite wrapping up the summer market with four key signings—Arnold, Huijsen, Mastantuono, and Álvaro Carreras—Real Madrid remains open to outgoing deals. With transfer windows still active in Turkey and Saudi Arabia, president Florentino Pérez views these markets as opportunities to balance the books by moving on players outside Alonso’s plans.
Asencio tops that list, having failed to convince the new coach. Sources indicate the 20-year-old’s mistakes in international competition played a decisive role in Alonso’s approval of his transfer.
Besiktas Leading the Race
According to journalist Mustafa Özgür Sancar of Diario AS, Besiktas has made Asencio a top target. Negotiations are expected to intensify in the coming days as the Turkish side seeks to reach an agreement with both the player and Real Madrid.
Although the Spanish giants previously struggled to attract offers for Asencio, Besiktas views his signing as a strategic investment. Club insiders describe the potential arrival as a “dream,” citing his youth, previous performances, and significant resale potential if he develops as expected.
Market Value and Contract Situation
Asencio is under contract with Real Madrid until June 2026. His current market value, according to Transfermarkt, is around €40 million (R$254 million)—a figure considered steep for Besiktas. Whether the Turkish side can structure a feasible deal remains uncertain.
Last season, Asencio made 46 appearances under Carlo Ancelotti, showcasing his durability and earning valuable minutes. However, his inconsistency, particularly in key matches, limited his long-term prospects under Alonso.
