Nottingham Forest reject Sporting and Botafogo bids, Jota Silva’s future unresolved

Nottingham Forest have rejected new approaches from Sporting CP and Botafogo for striker Jota Silva, with owner Evangelos Marinakis holding firm as transfer negotiations head into the final stretch of the summer window.

Forest stand firm

According to Record, the Premier League club considered both offers insufficient and will only sanction a deal under conditions deemed favorable. Marinakis is personally leading talks and remains determined not to lose leverage, even as interest intensifies from Portugal and Brazil.

Sporting’s failed attempt

Sporting CP put forward a structured loan bid worth €2 million upfront, plus another €2 million tied to appearances and goals. The deal also included a mandatory purchase option of €16 million, totaling up to €20 million.

Forest, however, rejected the proposal outright, leaving Sporting frustrated as they view Jota Silva as a priority signing. The Lisbon side are now exploring alternatives in the market with limited time remaining.

Botafogo enter the race

Meanwhile, John Textor’s Botafogo joined the pursuit with a stronger offer: €19 million guaranteed, rising to €23 million with bonuses. Despite the improved terms, Forest once again stood firm, unwilling to release the striker under those conditions.

Behind the scenes, the Brazilian bid is seen as an attempt to test Forest’s resolve, but Marinakis remains unyielding.

Decision to come late

For now, Jota Silva is not a central figure in Nottingham Forest’s immediate squad plans, but his future will likely only be decided in the closing hours of the transfer window. Until then, Forest are demonstrating total control of negotiations, keeping rival clubs waiting.
