Newcastle beat Wolves for their first Premier League win

Nick Woltemade scored on his debut to hand Newcastle a 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton, ending the Magpies’ winless start to the Premier League season.

The German striker, signed just four days ago to replace Alexander Isak, made an immediate impact at St. James’ Park and lifted the pressure on Eddie Howe’s side.

Woltemade Scores Dream Debut Goal

The breakthrough came in the 29th minute when Jacob Murphy delivered a precise cross that found Woltemade unmarked. The 22-year-old forward rose above Emmanuel Agbadou and powered a header into the corner, sending the home crowd into celebration.

Woltemade, who left the pitch in the 64th minute to a standing ovation, described the moment as “incredible,” telling the BBC:

“All the fans were happy, and so was I. Of course, winning the game was the most important thing. The coach gave me confidence, and I felt great on the pitch.”

Newcastle Finally Collect Three Points

The victory marks Newcastle’s first win of the season after three disappointing matches. A turbulent summer saw star striker Alexander Isak depart for Liverpool in a record £125 million transfer, leaving Howe under pressure to find solutions up front.

Despite the narrow margin, the Magpies looked lively, with Sandro Tonali striking the post and Murphy having a goal ruled out for offside.

Wolves Remain Bottom After Missed Chances

Wolves nearly struck first but were denied by goalkeeper Nick Pope, who produced key saves against Rodrigo Gomes and Hwang Hee-chan in the opening minutes.

In the second half, the visitors faded, offering little threat as Newcastle controlled the match. The defeat leaves Wolverhampton still pointless at the bottom of the table after four games.
