Mbappé complains about crowded calendar before France vs Ukraine: “We need more rest”

France captain Kylian Mbappé raised concerns over the number of matches in the European season just days before facing Ukraine in the World Cup qualifiers. The game takes place this Friday (5), at 3:45 p.m. (Brasília time), at the Municipal Stadium in Wroclaw, Poland.

“We need more rest,” says Mbappé

In an interview ahead of the clash, the Real Madrid striker highlighted the difficulty of maintaining peak performance with an overloaded schedule.
“I don’t know if we’re ready to play 60 games this season. I don’t remember a player performing at his best for 60 games. We need more rest,” said the French star.

Mbappé made a record 59 appearances for Real Madrid last season. During his time at PSG, his average was between 40 and 50 games per season.

Fans criticize comments on social media

The forward’s statements quickly went viral, drawing criticism online. Many fans argued that, given his salary estimated at €500,000 per week he should be more motivated to face the challenge.
One user wrote: “He earns half a million per week and has access to the best conditions. He should just move on.”

Another added: “We haven’t even been in the season for a month and he’s already complaining. After Real Madrid’s underwhelming campaign, he should be hungrier than ever.”

Strong start to the season

Despite the criticism, Mbappé has been in top form. The 25-year-old has already scored three goals in three La Liga games and is among the contenders for Player of the Month in Spain.
