Liverpool confirm signing of Alexander Isak: Swedish striker promises titles at Anfield

Liverpool have officially completed the signing of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United. The 25-year-old striker has signed a long-term contract and will wear the number 9 shirt for the reigning Premier League champions.

Isak’s First Words as a Red

In his presentation interview with Liverpoolfc.com, Isak expressed excitement and ambition:

“I feel incredible. It’s been a long journey to get here, but I’m thrilled to be part of this team, this club, and everything it represents. I want to win everything. It’s that simple.”

The striker added that he is eager to integrate quickly:

“I’m happy it’s over and I can get back to work. I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates and the fans, and getting back to playing.”

A Proven Premier League Goalscorer

Isak arrives at Anfield after a prolific spell with Newcastle:

  • 62 goals in 109 appearances since joining from Real Sociedad in 2022.
  • 54 goals in the Premier League, including 23 league strikes last season, second only to Mohamed Salah in the Golden Boot race.
  • Established reputation as one of the division’s most clinical forwards.

Now, Isak will form part of a fearsome Liverpool attack alongside Salah, Luis Díaz, Darwin Núñez, and Diogo Jota.

Career Path Before Anfield

The Swedish international, a product of AIK, moved to Borussia Dortmund in 2017. After loan spells at Willem II and a standout stint at Real Sociedad, he lifted the 2019/20 Copa del Rey as top scorer.

His performances in La Liga earned him a record move to Newcastle, where he became the face of the club’s new project before making the switch to Liverpool.

International Pedigree

For Sweden, Isak has already accumulated 52 caps and 16 goals, becoming one of the national team’s leaders. His arrival at Liverpool marks the biggest challenge of his career so far, as he looks to translate his scoring power into silverware at Anfield.
