How much Corinthians could earn if Murillo joins Barcelona or Arsenal

Corinthians could receive a major financial boost if Murillo leaves Nottingham Forest for one of Europe’s giants in 2026. Both Barcelona and Arsenal are interested in the 23-year-old defender, with a potential deal valued at around R$115 million for the Brazilian club.

Arsenal lead the race

While Barcelona remains keen, Arsenal are currently ahead in negotiations. Two main factors work in the Gunners’ favor: their stronger financial clout and Murillo’s proven adaptation to the Premier League.

Arsenal’s pursuit of a new center-back is linked to the future of William Saliba, who is attracting interest from Real Madrid. If the Frenchman departs, Murillo is seen as the ideal replacement.

Barcelona monitoring alternatives

The Spanish giants are also monitoring the situation but face tougher financial constraints. Alongside Murillo, Barcelona and Arsenal are following Palmeiras defender Luiz Benedetti, although no official offers have been made yet.

Murillo’s rise in Europe

Since leaving Corinthians, Murillo has established himself as a cornerstone at Nottingham Forest. He has already played 78 games, scoring two goals and providing two assists. Last season, he was voted the club’s best player, confirming his rapid development.

In the current 2025/26 Premier League campaign, he has started all three matches, once again impressing defensively. His contract with Forest runs until June 2029, meaning any transfer will require a substantial fee.

What Corinthians stand to gain

As part of his original transfer agreement, Corinthians are entitled to a solidarity mechanism fee and possible sell-on clauses. If Murillo moves to Barcelona or Arsenal for a top fee, the São Paulo club could collect an estimated R$115 million, strengthening their finances for upcoming seasons.
