Arsenal see Palmeiras’ Luiz Benedetti as a possible successor to Real Madrid, Saliba’s target

Arsenal is preparing for the possibility of losing William Saliba and has identified Luiz Benedetti, a 19-year-old Palmeiras defender, as a potential replacement. The English club is expected to step up its interest in the Brazilian talent starting in January 2026.
Arsenal Monitoring Benedetti’s Rise
According to journalist Rob McCarthy, the Gunners value Benedetti’s profile, highlighting his ball-playing technique and his impressive 1.97m height. Still in the early stages of his career, the Palmeiras defender is already being tracked by top clubs in Europe.
Aside from Arsenal, Barcelona in Spain and Olympiacos in Greece are also keeping an eye on the youngster. So far, Palmeiras has not received any formal offers.
Saliba Could Trigger Record Transfer
The future of William Saliba remains uncertain, with Real Madrid and PSG monitoring his situation. The Frenchman is under contract until 2027 and currently valued at €80 million.
Arsenal insists they do not plan to sell him, but a historic bid could change the scenario. If an offer surpasses Saliba’s market valuation, it could result in the most expensive defender transfer in football history.
Currently, the record belongs to Joško Gvardiol, who left RB Leipzig for Manchester City in a €90 million move.
Palmeiras Set for Windfall
At Palmeiras, the expectation is clear: Luiz Benedetti will eventually move to European football. The São Paulo club inserted a release clause of around R$640 million, aiming to secure a significant profit when the time comes.
