Xavi Simons could only leave RB Leipzig if he receives a million-dollar offer, says club director

RB Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer has made it clear: Xavi Simons will only leave the club if a major financial offer arrives. The 22-year-old Dutch midfielder remains one of the Bundesliga’s most valuable assets, but Leipzig intend to protect their star unless a bid truly reflects his market worth.
Leipzig won’t sell cheap
In an interview with Sport Bild, Schäfer stressed that Leipzig will not “let go of one of its main players lightly.” While Simons is ambitious and eager to compete at the highest level, Leipzig will only negotiate if the conditions are overwhelmingly positive for the club’s finances.
The German side are chasing a target of €100 million in transfer revenue this summer. So far, their biggest deal has been Benjamin Sesko’s €76.5m move to Manchester United. Selling Simons for upwards of €70m (R$410m) could help Leipzig meet their goal.
Chelsea monitoring the situation
According to the German press, Chelsea are among the clubs interested in Simons. Reports even suggest that Christopher Nkunku’s return to Leipzig could be explored as part of a potential swap arrangement.
Contract until 2027
Despite speculation, Simons remains a key starter at Leipzig and is under contract until 2027. Unless an elite-level offer lands on the table, he is expected to continue as a central figure in Marco Rose’s plans for the 2025/26 season.
