Tottenham handed tough Champions League draw with PSG and Borussia Dortmund

Tottenham will face reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain and 2024 runners-up Borussia Dortmund in the first phase of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League, after Thursday’s (28) official draw.

Spurs face Europe’s elite from the start

The draw held by UEFA has placed Tottenham in one of the most competitive paths of the League Phase. The English side, fresh from their Europa League triumph, now step back onto Europe’s biggest stage with a daunting schedule ahead.

Among their confirmed opponents, PSG stands out as the team to beat, having lifted the Champions League trophy last season with a commanding final victory over Inter Milan. Borussia Dortmund, runners-up in the 2023/24 campaign, are also expected to be one of the toughest rivals Spurs will encounter.

According to UEFA, these are the matches set for Ange Postecoglou’s men:

  • Borussia Dortmund (home)
  • Paris Saint-Germain (away)
  • Villarreal (home)
  • Eintracht Frankfurt (away)
  • Slavia Prague (home)
  • Bodø/Glimt (away)
  • Copenhagen (home)
  • AS Monaco (away)

This mix of seasoned European clubs and rising challengers will test Tottenham’s depth and consistency in the opening phase.

Match schedule still to be finalized

UEFA has yet to confirm the exact dates and order of fixtures, with an official announcement expected this Saturday (30). What is certain is that Tottenham will make their debut in the competition between September 16 and 18, the opening window of the Champions League group stage.

Spurs back in Europe’s top flight

Tottenham’s last appearance in the tournament came in the 2022/23 edition, when they were eliminated by AC Milan in the Round of 16 after a narrow 1-0 aggregate defeat. Two years later, they return as Europa League winners, hoping to write a different story on Europe’s grandest stage.
