Orlando Pride prepare $2M move for Tigres UANL star

Women’s football is set for another historic transfer. According to Empório do Futebol Feminino, Lizbeth Ovalle of Tigres UANL could join Orlando Pride in a deal worth around $2 million, which would make her the most expensive signing in the history of the women’s game.

If confirmed, the move would surpass the recent records established by Olivia Smith, who joined Arsenal from Liverpool for €1.34M, and Naomi Girma, signed by Chelsea for €1M from American soccer.

A Transfer Market on the Rise

The women’s game has seen its transfer fees grow rapidly in recent years. Each window has produced a new record, highlighting the sport’s increasing global investment and the commercial appeal of its stars.

The NWSL, where Orlando Pride compete, has been one of the main engines of this growth. The league has attracted international talent with big-money deals, boosting both its visibility and competitiveness.

Ovalle’s Impact at Tigres UANL

At 26 years old, Ovalle is already considered one of Mexico’s finest players. Known for her ability to create and finish chances, she has been a decisive figure for Tigres. In the 2025 Liga MX campaign, she recorded 12 goals in 18 matches, confirming her reputation as a game-changing midfielder.

If the deal goes through, she would not only mark a turning point for Orlando Pride but also set a new standard for the women’s transfer market worldwide.
