Manchester United Drops Interest in Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson

Red Devils shift focus to new targets after ending pursuit of Senegalese striker
Manchester United has officially decided not to pursue Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson during the current transfer window. After weeks of internal deliberation and scouting, the Premier League club has withdrawn its interest in signing the 23-year-old Senegal international, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
Interest fades despite Chelsea’s willingness to sell
Chelsea had reportedly been open to offloading Jackson, who arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2023 but failed to fully convince under multiple managers. The London club appeared willing to negotiate, but no formal bid was submitted by United, and talks were ultimately discontinued.
United turns to alternative market targets
While Jackson was initially seen as a potential market opportunity, Manchester United’s board has opted to shift its focus elsewhere, effectively ending all contact with the player’s representatives. The club is believed to be redirecting its attention to other attacking options.
Although no official explanation has been provided, reports suggest that United’s recent €76 million (£65 million) investment in Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo may have been a deciding factor. The arrival of the Cameroonian forward could reduce the need for another striker heading into the 2025 season.
Chelsea still looking to offload Jackson
Despite the breakdown in talks with Manchester United, Chelsea remains intent on selling Nicolas Jackson before the end of July. The club no longer counts on the striker, and his agents are aware of the Blues’ plans to facilitate his departure in this window.
