Flamengo has taken a historic step off the pitch. The Rio de Janeiro club confirmed a record-breaking sponsorship agreement with Betano, valued at R$268.5 million per year (€42.5 million), making it one of the highest-paid teams in the world for master sponsorship deals.

End of partnership with PixBet

The announcement comes shortly after Flamengo terminated its partnership with PixBet, the previous main sponsor. The bookmaker had faced difficulties in honoring payment commitments, which led to a mutual decision to end the contract.

Betano signs the biggest deal in Brazilian football history

Betano now takes over the most valuable spot on Flamengo’s shirt, with the largest sponsorship contract ever signed by a Brazilian football club. The figures not only break domestic records but also position Flamengo among the global elite in sponsorship revenue.

Flamengo surpasses Atlético de Madrid

With the new deal, Flamengo’s income from master sponsorships surpasses that of Atlético de Madrid, placing the Rubro-Negro inside the top 10 worldwide.

  • Flamengo (Betano) – €42.5 million per season
  • Atlético de Madrid – lower value than the Brazilian giant
  • Manchester City – global leader with around €70 million annually

This puts Flamengo ahead of several traditional European teams and leaves it behind only football giants like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, and Manchester City.

Approval pending, debut expected in Libertadores

The sponsorship agreement with Betano still requires formal approval by Flamengo’s Deliberative Council, but unanimous approval is widely expected.

If confirmed, Betano’s brand will debut on Flamengo’s shirt as early as Wednesday (20) in a Copa Libertadores clash, marking the beginning of a new financial era for the Rio de Janeiro powerhouse.
