As reported by The Telegraph, Amorim has introduced cutting-edge Apex 2.0 vests developed by STATSports, capable of collecting up to five million data points per match. These GPS-enabled vests are now used daily at United’s Carrington training center and will soon be rolled out during home games at Old Trafford.

The data collected by the vests offers detailed insights into players’ physical exertion, positioning, and recovery—key metrics for preventing injuries and identifying lapses in commitment. Amorim revealed that he actively uses the data to hold players accountable.
“If you don’t train properly, I have footage to show you. And I show it in front of everyone,” Amorim told The Telegraph. “So I’m always on top of the players.”
The Portuguese coach, known for his intense style, added that the long-term goal is for the squad to internalize this level of accountability: “I hope to reach a stage where I don’t have to do anything, because they’ll put pressure on each other.”
No Room for Complacency
Amorim’s push for greater discipline comes amid reports of strict internal decisions involving senior players. Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, two of the club’s high-profile attackers, are no longer in the manager’s plans following concerns about their training standards.
Rashford, who was first loaned to Aston Villa and more recently to Barcelona, reportedly faced disciplinary issues related to lateness and lackluster effort during sessions. Garnacho, meanwhile, is currently on leave and expected to find a new club before the window closes.
