Newcastle agrees to sell Isak to Real Madrid, but demands €150 million

Real Madrid have been linked with Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, but any potential deal looks complicated. The Premier League club has made it clear they will only release the Swedish forward if the €150 million clause (around R$954 million) is met, according to Defensa Central and Le10Sport.

Newcastle’s condition makes transfer unlikely

The Magpies have no plans to negotiate for a lower fee, which all but blocks Real Madrid’s chances of signing the 24-year-old this summer. Club president Florentino Pérez is reluctant to invest such a high sum in a single player, despite Xabi Alonso’s request for a new striker with a different profile than those currently in the squad.

Liverpool also remain attentive to the player’s situation, but Newcastle’s stance suggests Isak is unlikely to move in the current transfer window.

Isak’s numbers and La Liga connection

Isak is no stranger to Spanish football. Before joining Newcastle, he shone at Real Sociedad, leaving a strong impression in La Liga a factor that makes him attractive to Madrid.

Last season, the forward delivered an impressive 27 goals and six assists in 42 matches for Newcastle. However, he has yet to feature in the 2025/26 campaign, missing the opener against Aston Villa.

Real Madrid’s short-term plans

For now, Xabi Alonso will continue relying on Rodrygo and academy talent Gonzalo García, while awaiting the arrival of Endrick, who will only join later in the season.

Madrid begin their La Liga campaign today (19), facing Osasuna at 4 p.m. (Brasília time). Even without Isak, the club remains confident in its current squad depth, but the striker’s name will stay on the radar for future windows.
