Manchester United willing to increase salary to convince Fermín López to leave Barcelona

Premier League giants eye €70M+ bid for 22-year-old midfielder amid contract tied to €500M release clause
Manchester United are preparing to make a bold move to sign Fermín López from Barcelona, with the Premier League side reportedly willing to double the player’s current salary in a bid to tempt him to Old Trafford.
According to Spanish journalist David Bernabeu Reverter (SPORT), United are ready to offer more than €70 million for the 22-year-old, who remains under contract with the Catalan club until June 2029 and has a staggering €500 million release clause.
Fermín, however, is said to be reluctant to leave Barcelona, despite strong interest and a significantly more lucrative contract on the table.
Fermín López’s Salary and Transfer Value
Currently earning around €76,923 per week or €4 million annually, according to Capology the young Spanish midfielder could see that figure doubled should he accept United’s proposal.
The club’s pursuit comes at the direction of manager Rúben Amorim, who reportedly sees Fermín as a key piece in rebuilding United’s midfield for the upcoming season.
Stiff Competition and Player Loyalty
Manchester United aren’t alone in their interest. Fermín has reportedly turned down overtures from Saudi clubs, as well as major sides including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City.
Still, despite the growing international attention and financial incentives, sources close to the player suggest he remains committed to Barcelona and eager to continue developing under Hansi Flick.
Impressive 2023/24 Campaign
In just his second professional season, Fermín López made 46 appearances for Barcelona, scoring eight goals and delivering nine assists, solidifying himself as a versatile and reliable midfield presence.
Whether Barcelona choose to entertain the offer or shut the door on negotiations altogether remains to be seen, but Manchester United’s pursuit signals their clear intent to bolster the squad with young, high-potential talent.
