Manchester United is looking for interested parties in Antony and Benfica wants to secure the Brazilian’s loan

Manchester United is actively seeking clubs interested in winger Antony, with Portuguese giants Benfica emerging as the latest team to inquire about a potential loan deal.

The Brazilian forward recently returned to Old Trafford after a short but successful spell at Real Betis, where he regained form and earned a return to the Brazilian national team. Despite his resurgence, United has made it clear they are open to letting the player leave again, with no plans to reintegrate him into the squad.

Benfica Joins Race Amid Growing Interest

According to journalist Bruno Andrade (CNN Portugal), Benfica is the latest club to make contact regarding Antony’s future. The Portuguese side joins a growing list of European teams monitoring the 24-year-old, though no final decision has been made.

Signed by Manchester United in 2022 for around €95 million, Antony struggled to meet expectations in the Premier League. His inconsistency and off-field distractions led to his loan to Real Betis for the 2024/25 season a move that proved transformative.

In La Liga, Antony rediscovered his best form, playing a key role for Betis and earning praise across Spain. His performances caught the attention of national team manager Carlo Ancelotti, who brought him back to the Seleção Brasileira.

Return to Brazil Unlikely Due to Market Value

While clubs in Brazil including São Paulo and Botafogo have shown interest, a return to the Brasileirão appears highly unlikely. Manchester United remains focused on recouping part of their initial investment and is unwilling to approve a move without financial guarantees.

The player’s valuation, combined with salary demands, has made negotiations with Brazilian clubs difficult. United is prioritizing European or Middle Eastern destinations that can meet the financial terms required.

Atlético de Madrid and Saudi Clubs Also Interested

In addition to Benfica, Atlético de Madrid has made contact with Antony’s representatives. Manager Diego Simeone is believed to view the Brazilian as a valuable addition, particularly due to his adaptability on the wing and proven La Liga experience.

Clubs from Saudi Arabia have also entered the conversation, offering lucrative packages. However, Antony is said to prefer a stay in Europe, especially in Spain, where he feels most comfortable.

Real Betis Remains Antony’s Top Choice

Despite several offers, Antony has a clear favorite: Real Betis. The player sees the Spanish club as pivotal in reviving his career and hopes to negotiate a return whether permanent or on loan.

However, much will depend on Betis’ financial capacity and whether Manchester United is willing to lower their demands.
