Manchester City wants £50 million from Everton to sell Grealish at the end of his loan

Manchester City have agreed to loan Jack Grealish to Everton for the 2025/26 season, with the deal including a £50 million (€59 million / R$365 million) option-to-buy clause. The agreement, reported by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, was finalised after the winger completed his medical tests.

Fresh start after City struggles

Grealish, 29, arrives at Goodison Park aiming to rediscover the form that made him a Premier League standout at Aston Villa. Since his record transfer to Manchester City in 2021, his role shifted from being a creative attacking threat to a versatile tactical option under Pep Guardiola, featuring in six different positions over four years.

Guardiola’s reluctant farewell

The move follows months of uncertainty about Grealish’s future, with Guardiola signalling his possible exit during last year’s Club World Cup, where the winger was omitted from the squad. Speaking at the time, the City manager admitted it was difficult to part ways with one of his “hardest-working” players, but acknowledged the need for him to find more consistent playing time.

Everton’s intent in the transfer market

The Toffees see Grealish as a marquee signing to strengthen their attack. He joins a summer recruitment drive that has already brought in Thierno Barry, Kieran Dewsbury-Hall, and Carlos Alcaraz. Whether Everton will trigger the £50 million purchase clause will depend on Grealish’s performances this season.
