Liverpool could be in talks to sign Kostas Tsimikas after receiving interest from Olympique de Marseille

Greek defender expected to leave Anfield after losing space under Arne Slot
Liverpool could soon part ways with Kostas Tsimikas, with Olympique de Marseille positioning themselves as frontrunners for his signature. According to Foot Mercato, the 29-year-old left-back is no longer in Arne Slot’s plans and is expected to move before the end of the transfer window.
Marseille’s Need for Reinforcements
The French giants currently have Ulisses Garcia as their only natural option at left-back, making Tsimikas an attractive target. Although Marseille have yet to submit a formal bid, negotiations are expected to open in the coming weeks as Roberto De Zerbi looks to strengthen his defensive depth.
Competition at Liverpool
Tsimikas’ departure comes after Liverpool reinforced both full-back positions this summer. New signings Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez now dominate the flanks, while veteran Andrew Robertson remains first choice on the left. With minutes increasingly limited, the Greek international is looking for a fresh challenge.
Tsimikas’ Role Last Season
Despite being largely a backup, Tsimikas featured in 29 matches across competitions last season, logging 1,674 minutes and contributing two assists. His standout performances came in the Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest and the Champions League group stage against Milan, where he had direct involvement in goals.
Market Value
According to Transfermarkt, Tsimikas is currently valued at €18 million. While he may no longer be at Premier League level, a move to Ligue 1 could see him regain a prominent role and regular playing time in Marseille’s squad.
