Kai Havertz suffers knee injury at Arsenal and could be out for months

Arsenal have been dealt a major setback as Kai Havertz picked up a knee injury, with early signs suggesting the German forward could face a lengthy spell out.

Uncertainty over severity

According to The Athletic, Havertz will undergo further medical tests in the coming hours to determine the extent of the damage. While Arsenal have yet to confirm an official diagnosis, the outlook is worrying, with club sources fearing an absence of several months.

The timing is particularly cruel for the Gunners, who have started the Premier League season strongly and are targeting a long-awaited return to the top of English football.

Possible replacements

If Havertz is ruled out long term, Arsenal are unlikely to make a major signing to cover his absence. The club already invested heavily this summer in Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres, acquired for €63 million, and he is expected to carry much of the attacking load in Havertz’s absence.

Injury concerns return

Havertz endured similar problems last season, missing 14 Premier League matches and six Champions League fixtures, including every knockout tie. Despite these setbacks, he still managed 15 goals and 5 assists in 36 appearances, helping Arsenal finish as Premier League runners-up and reach the Champions League semi-finals.

The German has often struggled with consistency since joining from Chelsea in 2023. At Arsenal, he has so far amassed 88 appearances, 29 goals and 13 assists. For Germany, he has featured 55 times, scoring 20 goals since his debut in 2018.

Arsenal’s title ambitions under threat

For Mikel Arteta, the injury comes at a delicate moment. The Gunners are desperate to finally end their league title drought stretching back to 2004, and losing one of their most experienced forwards could significantly impact squad depth and attacking options in the decisive months ahead.
