James McConnell and Kaide Gordon could be loaned out by Liverpool and are expected to remain in England

Liverpool are preparing to send youngsters James McConnell and Kaide Gordon out on loan this season, with both players expected to continue their development in England.
Championship clubs lead the race
According to journalist James Pearce, Kaide Gordon is attracting interest from Swansea City and Derby County, his former club. Meanwhile, James McConnell has suitors from West Bromwich Albion, Oxford United, and Hull City, with Austrian side Sturm Graz also monitoring his situation.
Liverpool have yet to finalize any deals, but the Reds are open to loaning both players in order to secure them regular playing time.
The players’ backgrounds
McConnell, 19, joined Liverpool from Sunderland’s academy in 2019 and made his senior debut in 2022. So far, he has recorded 13 first-team appearances and one assist.
Gordon, 20, arrived from Derby County in 2021 but has struggled to establish himself. He has already had loan spells at Norwich City and Portsmouth, featuring regularly last season. For Liverpool, he has just seven appearances and one goal.
Once regarded as one of England’s brightest attacking prospects, Gordon also featured for the national youth teams but is still searching for consistency and minutes at senior level.
Liverpool’s season continues
The Premier League champions started their title defense with a 4-2 win over Bournemouth, as they aim for their 21st English title and a seventh Champions League crown.
Liverpool’s next match is a challenging away fixture against Newcastle on Monday, August 25, before clashing with Arsenal the following weekend.
