Hansi Flick is expected to see Guille Fernández leave, with no room at Barcelona

17-year-old midfielder yet to debut for the first team; departure before La Liga season likely

Barcelona is expected to part ways with rising prospect Guille Fernández, according to Spanish outlet SPORT. Despite showing promise in the club’s youth and B teams, the 17-year-old has failed to break into the professional squad and is now on the verge of an early exit.

No Space Under Flick’s Plans

Under new head coach Hansi Flick, Barcelona’s squad is beginning to take shape, but some players are falling by the wayside. Guille Fernández is one of them. Although still young, his lack of progression into the senior team has raised doubts among the club’s leadership.

Sources suggest that even after completing pre-season with the squad including a friendly win over Daegu FC, where Marcus Rashford scored Guille’s departure is now considered likely.

Strong Performances in Barça B

Fernández had a standout season with Barça Atlètic in 2023/24, featuring in 32 matches, starting 22, and scoring seven goals his best season to date. Despite this, the club appears unconvinced about his readiness for top-flight football.

Market Interest and Contract Details

Fernández, who is under contract until June 2027, has attracted interest from clubs in Spain and abroad. His current market value stands at €3 million (approximately R$19 million), and a loan or permanent move is on the table.

The young midfielder also represented Spain at the 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, although he only made three appearances during the tournament.
