French centre-back could be key to Ten Hag’s new defensive system

Bayer Leverkusen are pushing to sign Loïc Badé from Sevilla in a deal that could run until 2030. The 25-year-old French defender has emerged as a priority target for manager Erik ten Hag, who plans to reshape the team’s back line with a three-man defense.

Negotiations between Leverkusen and Sevilla are ongoing, with a transfer fee expected to fall between €25M and €30M (R$158M–R$189M). While talks are advanced, no final agreement has yet been reached.

Badé’s Rise in Spain and France

Since joining La Liga in 2023, Badé has been a standout performer for Sevilla, making 33 league appearances last season. His consistent form earned him a call-up to the French senior national team, further boosting his market value.

Long-Term Vision at Leverkusen

For Ten Hag, Badé represents more than a defensive reinforcement he’s a cornerstone for a tactical evolution. The Dutch coach aims to implement a versatile three-centre-back formation capable of competing at the highest level in both the Bundesliga and European competitions.

If the deal is completed, Badé would bring experience, strength, and composure, qualities that could solidify Leverkusen’s title ambitions for years to come.
