Éder Militão receives an offer to swap Real Madrid for the Middle East, but refuses

Real Madrid defender Éder Militão has turned down multiple lucrative approaches from clubs in Qatar and Saudi Arabia, choosing instead to remain at the Santiago Bernabéu and fight for his place in Xabi Alonso’s starting XI. The decision comes just months after the Brazilian centre-back completed his recovery from a serious knee injury that kept him sidelined for much of last season.
Key Piece in Xabi Alonso’s Defensive Plans
According to Defensa Central, Militão received several phone calls in recent weeks from Middle Eastern teams willing to make him one of their top defensive signings this summer. However, the 27-year-old informed Real Madrid’s board that he has no intention of leaving.
Xabi Alonso, who has publicly praised the Brazilian’s resilience and leadership, considers him an ideal partner for Dean Huijsen at the heart of the defence. The coach is also evaluating a three-man backline system, where Militão’s pace and aerial strength would be decisive.
Versatility and Winning Pedigree
Beyond his central defensive duties, Militão’s versatility allows him to cover at right-back a role he played to great effect for Brazil at the 2022 World Cup, particularly in the quarter-final clash against Croatia. Since joining Real Madrid from Porto in 2019, the São Paulo academy graduate has won every major trophy available, including multiple La Liga titles and the Champions League.
Last season, despite his injury, Militão made 18 appearances across all competitions, scoring once and providing one assist. His determination to reclaim a starting role is seen as a major boost for Madrid’s defensive stability heading into the new campaign.
Real Madrid’s Transfer Outlook
With Militão’s future settled, Real Madrid continue to monitor the market for midfield reinforcements. Chelsea’s Argentine star Enzo Fernández is among the names linked to the club, but a deal during this transfer window is considered unlikely due to financial and timing constraints.
The Spanish giants are expected to finalise their squad in the coming weeks, with Militão firmly positioned as one of Alonso’s most trusted defensive assets for the season ahead.
