Dele Alli is not part of Como’s plans and is considering retiring at 29, says portal

Former Tottenham star could hang up his boots after just one appearance in Italy
Former England international Dele Alli is reportedly considering retirement at the age of 29, after being left out of Como’s plans for the upcoming season, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Alli, once hailed as one of England’s brightest midfield talents, has only made a single appearance for Como since joining the Serie B club last season. His omission from the squad going forward has prompted the player to reassess his future in professional football.
Offered to Grêmio Amid Uncertainty
Recent reports from GZH suggest Alli was offered to Brazilian club Grêmio, but no deal has materialized. The move would represent a major shift for the midfielder, who has spent his entire career in Europe. However, with retirement on the table, his next step remains uncertain.
Meteoric Rise and Sudden Decline
Alli began his career at MK Dons in 2012, before securing a move to Tottenham Hotspur in 2015. He quickly rose to prominence, enjoying a breakout 2016/17 season with 22 goals and 10 assists in 50 matches. His dynamic style, goal-scoring ability, and flair made him a central figure in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad and a key player for England.
But by the 2020/21 season, his form sharply declined. Despite 29 appearances that year, he managed just three goals and five assists. His struggles led to a loan move to Everton, followed by an underwhelming stint at Beşiktaş in Turkey, where he scored three goals in 15 appearances.
Como Stint Ends in Disappointment
Alli returned to Everton but failed to make a single appearance before being sold to Como. The Italian club gave him limited chances, with just one official match played during his time there.
As Como prepare for the new season without him, the once-celebrated midfielder is now faced with the possibility of early retirement, a dramatic turn for a player who once lit up the Premier League and wore the England shirt on the world stage.
