Chelsea offer Christopher Nkunku to Real Madrid; Spanish giants decline, with focus shifting to midfield targets

Chelsea have offered Christopher Nkunku to Real Madrid in an attempt to offload the French forward before the European transfer window closes on September 1. However, according to Defensa Central, Los Blancos have turned down the proposal, citing a different transfer priority.
Why Real Madrid Said No
While Nkunku remains highly rated for his technical ability, Real Madrid do not view him as a fit for their current squad needs. Club president Florentino Pérez and manager Carlo Ancelotti are prioritizing midfield reinforcements over attacking additions.
Bayern Munich Could Enter the Race
With Nkunku out of favour under new Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca, the Blues are eager to find a buyer. Bayern Munich now seeking a replacement for Kingsley Coman, who recently joined Al-Nassr could emerge as a serious contender for his signature.
Real Madrid’s Midfield Wishlist
Pérez’s top target is Vitinha of Paris Saint-Germain, seen as a long-term successor to Toni Kroos and Luka Modrić. The 25-year-old Portuguese international shares a similar creative style and could arrive either this summer or in 2026.
As a backup option, Madrid are also tracking Rodri of Manchester City. The Spain international, born in Madrid, is considered one of the world’s best midfielders but would command a huge fee. His market value stands at €110 million (R$694 million), and City are working to secure his long-term future.
Big-Money Moves Ahead
Both Vitinha and Rodri would require a transfer fee above €80 million (R$500 million) meaning Real Madrid would need to commit to one of the biggest signings of 2025 if they pursue either player.
