Chelsea close to signing Brighton attacking midfielder Facundo Buonanotte

Chelsea are on the verge of securing Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton, as the Blues continue to reinforce their squad ahead of the crucial final days of the transfer window. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 20-year-old Argentine attacking midfielder is set to join Chelsea initially on loan, with a potential option to make the move permanent depending on his performances.
Transfer Details
Chelsea reportedly outpaced competition from other Premier League clubs and Borussia Dortmund to secure Buonanotte’s signature. Earlier rumors linking him to Strasbourg were unfounded, with Romano confirming that the move to Chelsea has been prioritized and is nearly finalized.
The loan deal allows Chelsea to integrate Buonanotte into their squad immediately, giving the club flexibility in case the young midfielder excels in the Premier League.
Who is Facundo Buonanotte?
Buonanotte began his career at Rosario Central in Argentina, featuring prominently from 2022 to 2023. Brighton signed him for €6 million but, due to limited opportunities, loaned him to Leicester City last season. At Leicester, he made 35 appearances, scoring six goals and registering three assists in the Premier League.
The Argentine international has also already earned two caps for the national team, underlining his potential to grow into a top-level midfielder.
Chelsea’s Current Form and Next Match
Chelsea have started the 2025/26 Premier League season strongly, remaining unbeaten with one win and one draw. In the last round, they crushed West Ham 5-1 away from home, with Estêvão starring in the victory.
The Blues return to action this Saturday (30) at 8:30 am (Brasília time) against Fulham in the third round of the Premier League. For this match, Estêvão and João Pedro are expected to start, while Cole Palmer remains sidelined due to injury.
