Bournemouth strikes early to defeat Wolves and claim their first Premier League win

Bournemouth secured their first three points of the season with a 1-0 home victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, thanks to an early strike from Marcus Tavernier.

Tavernier decisive in the opening minutes

The Cherries wasted no time at the Vitality Stadium. Just four minutes into the match, Marcus Tavernier finished a well-worked move to give the hosts a 1-0 lead, a scoreline they successfully defended until the final whistle.

Wolves left empty-handed again

Wolves, featuring Colombian Jhon Arias in the starting XI alongside Brazilians João Gomes and André, struggled to create consistent danger. The situation worsened after halftime when Toti Gomes was sent off, leaving the visitors with 10 men for nearly the entire second half.

Despite André’s introduction after the break, Wolves could not find an equalizer and now remain without a point after two matches.

Different starts for the two sides

For Bournemouth, the win comes as a positive response following their opening defeat to Liverpool. For Wolves, however, consecutive losses leave them near the bottom of the table, already facing pressure early in the campaign.
